The Guideline to God’s Word: Reading the Word

The Guideline to God’s Word: Reading the Word

The Bible or the Word of God is one of the most essential or the most important parts of a Christian’s life. It’s not just any story written or words put together but it is a Living Word and through every story, there is a promise that God has spoken in the lives of each person in the Bible. A promise that is still being applied even today. For Christians, it is important not just to go to church every Sunday but to also read God’s Word.

“Like babies that were just born, you should long for the pure milk of God’s word. It will help you grow up as believers.” 1 Peter 2:2, in this verse it speaks of the newborn babies that are longing for nourishment in their bodies as a Christian, you should long for the Word of God to nourish your Spiritual life. You should have that hunger like a baby and the passion to read and know more about who God is, through His Living Word.

Reading the Word of God not only lets you know about who God is but also the promises and benefits that come with it. Even if God’s Word has been written more than 2000 years ago, it still is a powerful and Living Word. Through reading the Word of God, you will receive these benefits:

Clarity of who God is

By reading God’s Word, in every book of the Bible, there is a character of God you’ll see that He portrays. For example, in Genesis, He was the beginning, the Creator of everything, the God who makes miracles through Isaac, and in every character in the whole Genesis, God is different in each story. He provides, heals, protects, and many other characteristics of who He is. Through reading, you get to know more of who He really is but, of course, it’s different when you interpret it and apply it but we’ll talk about it in the next articles to come.

Knowing the Faithful Promises of God in your life

Reading the miracles and the breakthroughs of the Bible, you’ll know how God can turn water into wine, five loaves, and two fish that can feed the five thousand and even the dead to life. Just by reading, you may have hope in your situation in life that whatever you go through, there is nothing that God cannot do in your life.

Deuteronomy 7:9, “Keep in mind that the LORD your God is [the only] God. He is a faithful God, who keeps his promise and is merciful to thousands of generations of those who love him and obey his commands.”

A clear vision of God’s plan for you

‘“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”’ Jeremiah 29:11. In this verse, it clearly says that God has a plan for you and it is for you to prosper and give you hope that you have a good future in God’s mind. Reading the Word of God will assure you and give you clarity that you have a great future ahead of you and that it is to prosper. Just by reading God’s Word and knowing it by heart makes you rich and prosperous. Being prosperous isn’t just through money but it also is in the heart and your spiritual growth. So by reading His Word, you will learn more about His plans for you and how He wants you to live the life He gave and be a blessing to others.

The Victory in Prayer

The Victory in Prayer

As it was discussed in yesterday’s blog, every day you fight battles, and either that battle is won in victory or defeat. Through the power of prayer, it is a preparation for the victory you are going to receive in what you’re battling with. The power of prayer is limitless because it’s a form of surrender to the victorious One, our God! If you want to read about the battle in your prayer, you may go to this link: The Battle In Your Prayer and read the full article on it.

For our last article for our “Prayer Series”, we are talking about how we are positioned for victory. So why do you need to know about victory and how is it related to prayer and your life as a Christian? There are a few reasons why this is part of our life as a child of God and let this be an encouragement to you that after reading this, we, the Salvation Garden pray to let you realize the importance of victory in everyone’s lives.

  1. Identity

In Romans 8:37, “No, despite all these things, overwhelming victory is ours through Christ, who loved us.” It was through Jesus Christ that you and I received salvation and through that salvation, we have freedom, restoration, healing, deliverance, and part of that salvation is victory. It is the identity of Jesus and that is being victorious. As Jesus won over sin and death upon the cross, you have received the victory as long as you accept Him as your Lord and Saviour. Being a child of God, there is an identity that is promised and you should walk upon that identity. Being victorious is your identity. It is who you are because it is who Jesus is. 1 Corinthians 15:57 says, “But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.”You cannot change who you are but you can choose either to live on it or not. If you set your mind on the truth that victory is in you, then you will conquer your battles together with God. However, this world created a complex image of what identity is and that’s where identity crisis comes but knowing the Word of God and what it says about you, then you are sure of who you are in Christ. You are a victor because He is victorious!

               2. Identity

A part of your identity comes to your destiny. You are destined for greater heights and win over battles in life. Whether that be a spiritual, mental, physical, or emotional battle, you are meant to be victorious through Jesus! But, walking into your destiny is a big challenge for every child of God because there are a lot of sacrifices you would need to make and choices you never wanted to make but you can overcome them through prayer accessing the strength to fight the battles you face to be able to be victorious. God desires for you to be victorious. However, when you pray for victory, your heart matters. If you pray for your selfish ambitions then God will surely not grant that prayer of yours. If you pray over a battle that you facing like comparing yourself to someone else or being jealous over the blessings that your friend is experiencing, then God will grant you victory over those feelings that you have and He will give you peace that passes all understanding to let you know that you have your destiny to fulfill and comparing yourself to someone else’s destiny is not in His plan for you. Victory starts in the heart, then the faith, and through prayer.

Your prayers are your shout of victory towards your battles and what you go through just like the Israelites when they were marching around the walls of Jericho, they were silently marching but on the 7th day, that’s when they blew the trumpet and started shouting till they reached victory through the walls of Jericho falling down. Prayer is your communication with God and the Holy Spirit is guiding you in discerning what to do when you face trials or challenges in life but just like the Israelites, you should know how to listen to God’s instructions for you to achieve your victory. You need to know that prayer changes not only your perspective but the way you approach every battle and so when you pray for victory, learn to listen to God’s voice so that you will surely march towards the victory God has planned for you!

We, the Salvation Garden, pray that through every week, you may learn in every series we release, and as the Prayer Series ends in this article, we hope that you were blessed to read all of it and learn from it. Remember that prayer is a lifestyle and we need to pray in order for us to communicate with our God. We have a lot in store for you and we would love to hear from you!

The Battle In Your Prayer

The Battle In Your Prayer

Everyone faces different challenges in life every day like inside their homes, school, their workplace, or wherever they go and whoever they meet, there will always be challenges or battles, you can say.  Maybe some people just live life every day with their routine and do not realize that there are battles going on in their minds, hearts, and body. However, most of the time, a lot of people prioritize their battles in the physical, emotional, and mental, leaving the spiritual aspect behind because not everyone sees the value or the importance when it comes to spiritual battles. But just like what we talked about in our last article of this series, (link of Strength through Prayer), there are aspects that you would need strength on, to get through every day because each day there are battles you would face in every aspect but people do not realize the most important aspect and leave it out sometimes and that is the spiritual warfare.

In 2 Corinthians 10:4, “The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds.” This clearly means that amidst the battles you face in the physical whether in your health or stability, your mental or emotional, the weapons you have started in the spiritual. Before you fight your daily physical battles, you should know that you are battling against the strongholds of your life that the devil is trying to put in you, especially in your mind. The devil came to destroy your life but God came to give you a life lived in abundance just like how John 10:10 says, “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.” The reason why you fight battles even in prayers is that you are trying to fight the strongholds that you are facing in the spiritual world. If you are not strong in your spirit, your physical, mental and emotional will eventually break down. It is important to establish yourself in prayers that through prayers you will be victorious because in prayers there is victory, which we’ll be talking about in the last article for this “Prayer Series.”

The weapons that the Bible is saying that we hold that are not carnal simply means that it is not seen in the physical. The battles in the physical are not easy but the spiritual warfare you may face every day may have a greater effect in your life and even for eternity. The weapons that God has given you are the truth, faith, grace, and righteousness. The truth of who you are means your identity in Christ, that you are now redeemed by the blood of Jesus and so you have the confidence to walk in God’s plan for your life. The faith that you have, that whatever battles you face in the physical, mental, and emotional, you will overcome it through prayer and the weapons you hold. The grace that God has in your life that’s why you can live life according to His Word and walk in it to see your victory in your everyday battle and the righteousness that you will not give in to the world’s way on how to battle but you will have the ability through prayer to fight your battles. When a person gives importance to the spiritual, the other aspects would just follow. That is why there will always be a battle in prayer because it’s also a form of surrender to the Lord that whatever you’re facing, you will overcome it through His help.

And so, we, the Salvation Garden, pray that you realize the importance of prayer and that in every prayer there is a battle going on. That God’s hand is upon you and every time you pray, He is working in your life even if you cannot see it. God is working in mysterious ways and so just keep praying and you will eventually see the manifestation of your prayers. The battles you’ve won through prayers will be seen in God’s perfect timing.

As you learn more about what prayer really is, we encourage you to complete the “The Prayer Series” that was launched a few days ago to be able to really understand each part of your prayer and fully realize the importance of it. The Salvation Garden prays to reach you through this series, that you may learn from reading our blogs and that you may be encouraged despite the situations you are facing. From (Prayer Guidelines) to (Strength through Prayer) (links of the first two articles), we desire to bring you the Word of God even more through the upcoming series. So if you want to read more blogs or articles you may visit https://www.thesalvationgarden.org/  and check our blogs and series. We would love to hear from you!

Strength through Prayer

Strength through Prayer

Yesterday’s blog was about the basic questions of anyone wondering about what prayer is, who could pray, when to pray, where, why, and how.  For new Christians or even the old ones, it’s good to be reminded about what prayer really is and how it helps a person connect to God and develop his/her relationship. If you like to read more about yesterday’s blog, click this link, www.thesalvationgarden.org

Now that it was discussed, we can now proceed to one of the benefits when it comes to prayer. Prayer is so broad that there are benefits every time you do it. And one of the main benefits is strength, which we’ll talk about today. Strength is essential for anyone whether a kid or even an old person. It is what one needs in order to get up, dress up and show up in any commitment or responsibility that person has. However, it is not just about physical strength that one would need but also, spiritual, mental, and emotional too because there are battles we face every day, which is going to also be discussed in this series in the next few days.

There are different areas where you would need strength and those aspects are physical, mental, spiritual, and emotional which also has reasons why you should pray for every part of it because each aspect is as important as the other one.

Physical Strength

This pandemic showed a lot of importance in the smallest things just like waking up to a healthy body. God has the power to strengthen your body and even heal the sick. Just like in the Bible, when Jesus made a lame man walk, the blind man sees and many other miracles. It was because of prayer and the faith of the person. Many people pray to God with unbelief and that is the enemy of God’s power working in you. When you pray for physical strength, you need to know that God really grants that strength in you because you’ll realize that when you reach the fullest potential of your body. You will see that without God’s power in your prayer for your strength, you wouldn’t be able to use your hands to work and your feet to support you. Some people lack strength in their physical body and so prayer works wonders when you pray that God would give you the strength that you need in order to move around and do what you need to do.

Mental Strength

A lot of people had trouble during this pandemic and even before the pandemic. People encounter mental breakdowns due to stress in studies, work, or finances. There are a lot of reasons to break down mentally and that’s when you realize the importance of praying even for your mind. Praying for your mind to function properly and that the mind of Christ be upon you as you face every day because every day you would encounter different people, places, and things, and sometimes that would cause you to have a hard time processing them because our minds have the limited capacity and the only way to reach more than that capacity is through prayer that God would guide you in handling different situations. The reason why there are people going through psychiatrists is because of their mental stability. In this world, if you don’t know how to handle challenging situations, it may cause mental breakdowns and even worse. That’s why you are blessed to have access to prayer for your mental strength.

Emotional Strength

There are days wherein your emotions are being used too much. Whether that be your happiness, sadness, grief, anger, and any other emotions one could feel. You will always have days where you feel one or two emotions at that day or even more. Emotional exhaustion is even worse than physical exhaustion. That’s because our emotions are temporary and fast-paced. We feel one emotion now but the next minute, we feel the opposite of it. That’s why the Bible says to never trust our feelings or emotions because it is inconsistent, it is fleeting. So you need to really depend on the strength of God guiding us on our emotions because if you use your strength in the things or people you don’t need to use it on, you will really feel tired in the end. Your prayer for your emotions every day matters because your emotions will determine the thoughts you think of and the words you speak. So for you to walk in God’s plan, you need to learn to control your emotions and strengthen them through prayer.

Spiritual Strength

You might be wondering, why spirituality is part of the four aspects of strength through prayer. Well, that’s because spiritual strength is just like your physical strength. Exercising yourself through prayer, reading God’s word and worshipping develops your spiritual strength to face every battle in life. It all boils down to spirituality because it is a connection between you and God. You need to be strengthened spiritually for you to learn more about God and know Him more on a personal level. Praying for your spiritual strength is a challenge because no one could be consistent in reading the Bible and praying but praying for this aspect helps us practice and live by it. And so, just how consistent you are in exercising your physical strength, learn to exercise your spiritual strength more.

Now that you have seen every aspect of prayer and how you may get strength from it, we, the Salvation Garden pray that you would incorporate this in your daily life that you may be able to see the difference when you pray. This blog series is not yet over! There is more to prayer and we’ll be talking about it more.

Faith Lessons For St. Patrick’s Day

Faith Lessons For St. Patrick’s Day

Even if you are not catholic, buckets of gold and leprechauns will floor your life in March. These modern day trinkets, have nothing to do with St. Patrick. No matter what denomination you are, powerful christian lessons can be found in this holiday.

God can turn curses into blessings.

Before becoming a saint, Patrick did not have an easy life. He was stolen from his Christian home and brought to Ireland as a slave. Before being kidnapped, Patrick was not a devout man, but hardship brought him close to God.

He began to pray. As a slave, Patrick prayed every day, whenever he could. After many hard years, God spoke to Patrick.

Listening to God, Patrick escaped and found a boat that brought him home. Later in life, Patrick began spreading the Gospel and returned to Ireland.

Patrick spread the Holy Word throughout Ireland, and even converted his former slave master. They worked together bringing God’s message to the country.

God is always listening, even during your darkest days.

Patrick accepted God into his heart while he was a slave. In Patrick’s hardest times, God guided him. And in our hardest times, we must remember to run towards God.

Do not run away from faith. Make an urgent prayer request and God will hear you, because God is with us every step of the way.

The bucket of gold at the end of the rainbow is your relationship with God.

We, The Salvation Garden, offer you the chance to send your urgent prayer requests for any reason. Allow us to pray for you! Send your Urgent Prayer Requests now.

Our dedicated team members will personally take your urgent prayer requests to a Church of your choice in the Holy Land and then offer them to our Lord. After we bring your prayer requests to your chosen Holy Church, we will send you videos or pictures to assure you.

Miracle Prayer Request – Mount Tabor

Miracle Prayer Request – Miracle Walk at Mount Tabor

The Miracle Walk is a unique prayer ceremony, performed for special prayer requests only, on the top of Mount Tabor, the holy site of the Transfiguration of Jesus, the greatest miracle of all. Please read this explanation before submitting your prayer request

Transfiguration of Jesus - Miracle Prayer Request

The Transfiguration of Jesus: The Greatest Miracle

The Transfiguration of Jesus is an event where Jesus is transfigured and becomes radiant in glory – like the sun – upon Mount Tabor.

Jesus and three of His apostles – Peter, James, and John – go to pray on a mountain, later referred to as the Mount of Transfiguration and identified as Mount Tabor in the Holy Land.

On the mountaintop, while praying, Jesus begins to shine with bright rays of light. Then the Biblical figures Moses and Elijah appear next to Him and He speaks with them. Jesus is then called “Son” by the voice of God the Father.

The transfiguration is one of the miracles of Jesus in the Gospels. This miracle is unique among others that appear in the canonical gospels, in that the miracle happens to Jesus Himself. Thomas Aquinas considered the transfiguration “the greatest miracle” in that it complemented baptism and showed the perfection of life in Heaven.

For The Salvation Garden, as a praying community, the Transfiguration miracle has a unique importance, as it happened during prayer and the voice of God was heard on the top of the mountain.

In Christian teachings, the transfiguration is a pivotal moment, and the setting on Mount Tabor is presented as the point where human nature meets God: the meeting place of the temporal and the eternal, with Jesus Himself as the connecting point, acting as the bridge between heaven and earth.

Mount Tabor Transfiguration Prayer Request

Mount Tabor: Where Miracles Happen

Since the 3rd century, most Christians have identified Mount Tabor as the site of the Transfiguration of Jesus.

At the eastern end of the Jezreel Valley, Mount Tabor is shaped almost like half a sphere, suddenly rising from rather flat surroundings and reaching a height of 575 meters (1,886 feet), thus dominating by a good 450 meters the the plain below.

Mount Tabor, in the North of the Holy Land, has long been a place of Christian pilgrimage. Until today, Mount Tabor is the site of the Church of Transfiguration.

When in need of a miracle – a personal miracle, a healing miracle, or any other celestial help – believers travel far to visit Mount Tabor and pray.

The Miracle Walk Ceremony: Prayer Request for a Miracle

Following the footsteps of several pilgrims and stories of great miracles, the Miracle Walk Ceremony was developed.

Pilgrims can walk the same grounds upon which Jesus went through the Transfiguration and pray. In this holy site, where the greatest miracle of all occurred, believers feel as if the prayer reaches further into Heaven.

The Salvation Garden team performs this unique prayer ceremony, the Miracle Walk, walking on the top of Mount Tabor, praying at the holy site where miracles happen.

Valley of Elah Prayer Request for Winning

David and Goliath: Faith of Strength

The Bible tells us how the Philistine army had gathered for war against Israel. The two armies faced each other, camped for battle on opposite sides of a steep valley. A Philistine giant measuring over nine feet tall and wearing full armor came out each day for forty days, mocking and challenging the Israelites to fight. His name was Goliath. Saul, the King of Israel, and the whole army were terrified of Goliath.

One day, David, the youngest son of Jesse, was sent to the battle lines by his father to bring back news of his brothers. David was just a young teenager at the time. While there, David heard Goliath shouting his daily defiance, and he saw the great fear stirred within the men of Israel. David responded, “Who is this uncircumcised Philistine that he should defy the armies of God?”

So David volunteered to fight Goliath. It took some persuasion, but King Saul finally agreed to let David oppose the giant. Dressed in his simple tunic, carrying his shepherd’s staff, sling, and a pouch full of stones, David approached Goliath. The giant cursed at him, hurling threats and insults.

David said to the Philistine:

“You come against me with sword and spear and javelin, but I come against you in the name of the Lord Almighty, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied … today I will give the carcasses of the Philistine army to the birds of the air … and the whole world will know that there is a God in Israel … it is not by sword or spear that the Lord saves; for the battle is the Lord’s, and he will give all of you into our hands.” (1 Samuel 17:45-47)

As Goliath moved in for the kill, David reached into his bag and slung one of his stones at Goliath’s head. It found a hole in the armor and sank into the giant’s forehead. He fell face down on the ground. David then took Goliath’s sword, killed him and cut off his head. When the Philistines saw that their hero was dead, they turned and ran. The Israelites pursued, chasing and killing them and plundering their camp.

Prayer Request for Winning, Healing, Faith

Sometimes prayer is the answer. The team of The Salvation Garden works hard to take prayer requests from all around the world to the holy sites of the Holy Land. The heartwarming thank-you letters give us the energy to continue. The stories about prayers answered and true miracles strengthen our faith.

Most days, we pray for you at the holy churches of Jerusalem. From time to time, we arrange a special delegation to an important pilgrimage site, taking your prayer requests to the most unique sites of Israel, where Jesus lived and preached.

This time, we invite you to join us in prayer at the ancient site of the Valley of Elah, the place where David defeated Goliath. This is where the bible teaches us that size doesn’t matter and doesn’t determine what’s possible for each and very one of us.

We can all do unimaginable things, conquer our fears, win, heal, help others. Just like the young David did, with faith in the Lord.

We believe that anything is possible and that we must not underestimate our capabilities. With a faithful prayer, you too can set your path in the right direction and have God with you along the way.

Prayer Request at the Valley of Elah

The Valley of Elah is located about 17 miles west of Jerusalem and Bethlehem, on the Western edge of the Judean lower hills. It’s not a developed site and a little difficult to reach. The delegation would take both a 4×4 vehicle, some hot weather walking, and security arrangements.

Any member of our community who sends a prayer request for the Valley of Elah will receive a photo of the printed prayer request with the view of the Valley of Elah. We will pray for you there, where David defeated Goliath, where Godly miracles happen.

There, write your personal prayer request, select at least one holy church, and click Continue. In the next page, select the Valley of Elah option. Your generous donations cover the travel and security arrangements, thank you!

This first special delegation took place on May 8th, 2021. The next is scheduled for later in June 2021.

The Ascension of Jesus

Exactly 40 days after Resurrection, Jesus departed from Earth and rose into Heaven in the presence of His apostles. Ever since, Ascension Day is celebrated on Thursday, 40 days after Easter Sunday.

On Ascension Day, the hearts and eyes of Christians from around the world are focused on a specific point. To the East of the old city of Jerusalem, in the heart of the Holy Land, stands the ancient Mount of Olives, the exact location of the Ascension of Jesus.

Ascension Day Delegation to the Holy Ascension Site

This year, when travel is limited and pilgrimage is almost impossible, the Salvation Garden team plans a special prayer on top of the Mount of Olives on Ascension Day, Thursday, May 13th, 2021. We invite the members of our prayer community to participate in this unique prayer opportunity.

Unfortunately, the Mount of Olives is located in a disputed area, where Israelis and Palestinians had clashed in the past and there is a security challenge. Nevertheless, we plan the delegation to the Mount of Olives on Ascension Thursday and we will take the necessary security measures.

Prayer Request Delegation to Capernaum

Prayer Request Delegation Capernaum

The spring season is just starting in the Holy Land and a perfect warm and sunny weather welcomed our special delegation to Capernaum. We traveled to the North of Israel to pray for our community members from around the world. The selected location was specifically selected by Jesus over 2,000 years ago.

Capernaum, Praying Inside the Church

Carrying with us your Holy Land prayer requests, We began the day early in the morning at Chorazin, a ancient settlement also mentioned in the Bible. The antique ruins of a beautiful synagogue tell a story of a strong community that lived here, where Jesus chose to spend several years. The fields around are still green, some with wild barley, as the area was know for growing wheat and barley.

Following our local guide, we then walked for half a day downhill, surrounded by green fields and wild plum trees. Looking closely at the trees, it’s easy to notice small thorns. Yes, these are no other but the Ziziphus Spina-Christi trees, known as the Christ’s Thorn Jujube. These trees were used for the crown of thorns placed on Christ’s head during His crucifixion.

As we continue to walk, a magnificent view opens in front of our eyes. A blue lake reveals itself in the distance, the Sea of Galilee. This view hasn’t changed throughout the many years that had passed. The Biblical view, the atmosphere, the blessing in the wind. All feels the same.

Sea of Galilee Prayer Request
An amazing view of the Sea of Galilee

After several hours we reached the Northern shore of the Sea of Galilee. In this area called Capernaum, after the ancient Hebrew name Kfar Nahum (the Village of Nahum), Jesus chose to live for three years. Here He selected the first Apostles. And more than anything, here he answered prayers and performed miracles.

Prayers where directly answered by Jesus in this holy place. Jesus expelled a demon from a possessed man here (Mark 1:21-27). He cured a Roman officer’s servant of palsy, the centurion is thought to have had the synagogue built (Luke 7:3). Here Jesus also raised the daughter of Jairus from the dead (Luke 8:41-53).

Today, several churches stand in this holy site, referred to in the Bible as Jesus’ Own Town or the Town of Jesus. An old Catholic church in the Western side, alongside a Franciscan monastery. A Greek Orthodox Monastery to the East’ alongside the Church of the 12 Apostles. In between a long path allows believers to walk calmly and absorb the atmosphere. Not very far above, the Beatitude Monastery has beautiful views of the entire Capernaum area.

Holy Sepulchre

Pray With Us: Holy Sepulchre

Pray With Us: Holy Sepulchre

The Church of the Holy Sepulchre contains the two holiest sites in Christianity. Inside the sacred halls is Calvary, the site where Jesus was crucified for our sins. There is also Jesus’s empty tomb, the spot where He was buried and resurrected.

We can pray together from this ancient and spiritual church in Jerusalem.

The church is inside the Christian quarter of Jerusalem’s old city. The final four Stations of The Cross, or the Via Dolorosa, are enshrined here.

The Bible tells us that Jesus was crucified at Golgotha, “the place of the skull”. It was a stone quarry, just outside the city walls.

In 312 AD, the Roman Emperor Constantine had a vision of the Cross. He converted to Christianity after receiving the sign from God and sent his mother to search for Golgotha.

Empress Helen found a tomb that fit the Gospel’s description of the Calvary. All of the dirt and debris that had gathered with time and neglect was removed. A rock-cut tomb and a relic of the Cross were found underneath!

A church was built in 326 AD at the newly identified tomb of Jesus. The wooden doors at the main entrance are the same doors commissioned by Constantine over a thousand years ago.

Your prayers can be answered at the Calvary!

Inside the church, a stairway leads up to the site of Jesus’ crucifixion. It is the most extravagant part of the Holy Sepulchre. Ornate gold decorates the place where Jesus died on the Cross.

“He himself bore our sins” in his body on the cross, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; “by his wounds you have been healed.” 1 Peter 2:24

The Stone of Anointing is at the entrance. This is where Christ’s body was prepared for His burial. A large mosaic behind it shows the anointing of Jesus’s body.

The 19th century Aedicule is a small chapel within the larger church. It has two small rooms, one is the Tomb of Jesus. In the other is the Angel’s Stone, a small piece of the stone that sealed Jesus’s tomb.

“Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In His great mercy He has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.” 1 Peter 1:3:

In May 2016, the Aedicule underwent precarious restorations. The $4 million dollar project started after the Israel Antiquities Authority declared the monumental structure unsafe.

Even if you are far from Jerusalem, you can still have your prayers heard inside the Church of the Holy Sepulchre. Our prayer team can deliver your urgent prayer requests in the Holy Land today.

Sitting on the Northern shore of the Sea of Galilee, the ancient village Capernaum – and in Hebrew Nahum’s Village – is referred to in the Bible as Jesus’ “own town”. Today, it is a very important holy pilgrimage site. Going back in time, this is where Jesus chose to live, teach and perform miracles.

Capernaum – Where Jesus Chose to Live and Preach

Jesus was born in Bethlehem, brought up in Nazareth and preached in Jerusalem. But it was the significant Galilean Ministry years which he spent in Capernaum and where he performed many of His miracles. Capernaum became His home and the Bible calls it Jesus’ “own city”.

Matthew 4:13 tells us that Jesus left Nazareth and went to live in Capernaum after being tempted in the wilderness. Here He met James, John, Peter, Andrew all fishermen and Matthew a tax collector, five of His future disciples (source).

It was in the Capernaum synagogue that Jesus gave the Sermon on the Bread of Life (John 6:35-59). “Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life and I will raise him up at the last day”. In this synagogue Jesus would regularly preach (John 6:59, Luke 4:33).

Prayers Answered Here

Christian believers who visit Capernaum these days can visit the remains of His old preaching place. Praying here takes a whole new meaning.

Alongside the excavations of the ancient synagogue, archeologists also found the House of St. Peter, one of the Twelve Apostles of Jesus Christ, and one of the first leaders of the early Church.

Your Prayer Request at Capernaum

Praying at Capernaum, where Jesus had answered prayers and performed miracles during His days on Earth, brings us closer to the divine. Knowing that He answered direct prayers of healing here adds strength to prayers here for centuries.

Capernaum is located in the North of Israel and we can’t visit it on a regular basis. But we do go there every few months and update our community members about the opportunity to write and send prayer requests to be delivered there. Every such prayer request will be prayed there and we will send back a photo of the prayer in the location. At the moment, we can’t record videos or light candles at this holy site. Such a trip takes a whole day and has costs, which we cover through generous donations.

Pray with Us: The Garden Tomb

The exact historical site of Jesus’ crucifixion and resurrection have been debated for centuries. The bible’s description of the Calvary gives us some clues. But modern Jerusalem does not have the same landscape, making it difficult to know for sure…

“Carrying his own cross, he went out to the place of the Skull (which in Aramaic is called Golgotha). There they crucified him, and with him two others—one on each side and Jesus in the middle.” John 19:17-18

In 300 AD, the location of the Church of the Holy Sepulchre was identified as Golgotha. However, many years later, a new discovery uncovered another tomb that left many people wondering.

The Garden Tomb is a rock-cut tomb that was unearthed in 1867. The site has many similarities to the scenes depicted in the Bible. While some archaeologists say it is not from the same time period, it is widely accepted as the possible burial site of Jesus Christ.

Regardless of history, the Garden Tomb is a peaceful place of worship. Everyone can agree that it preserves a more traditional perception of what Calgary would have looked like.

Architecture alteration and time have changed the tomb at the crowded Church of the Holy Sepulchre. Because of that, many prefer the Garden Tomb for the feeling of being truly immersed into the events described in the Gospels.
