How meaningful is the connection between people and Jewelry?

How meaningful is the connection between people and Jewelry?

The Bible as a mirror to the place of Jewelry

Through the ages, the culture of wearing necklaces among other accessories was a common practice as seen in Genesis 24:30 where Rebekah, Jacob’s wife, wears jewelry. A variety of jewelry crafted from gold, silver and natural stones not only delivers you beauty but also offers you spiritual completeness.

Not just a material

Gold

Gold, for instance, is regarded as an ornament, money, and a symbol of social status. It also has spiritual properties.

The lustrous metal can bring harmony and gladness to you when adorned to your body. Gold has strong protective features and is used in the creation of amulets and talismans. If you were to place gold on your ring finger, you could potentially attract a divine consciousness.

The divine energy which is stimulated by gold keeps off all forms of dark energy from you.

Silver

Silver mainly gets associated with recovery of one’s protection, luck, and mental peace. Silver can protect you from evil and cure you of a variety of disorders. The affordable and durable steel jewelry has the capability of offering you the protection against extreme pessimism and physical attacks.

Natural stones

Natural stones, on the other hand, are overwhelmingly sacred and powerful. Natural stones can strengthen energy patterns which coincide with your will and plans to help you physically, emotionally, and spiritually.

Gemstones, for instance, which have been in use for over seven thousand years, can enhance your focus and energy, especially in situations of extreme stress or high pressure.

Jewelry has the capability of offering high spiritual aid. No wonder that the book of Proverbs 25:12 gives valuable advice on it for a keen listener.

“Like an earring of gold or an ornament of fine gold is the rebuke of a wise judge to a listening ear.”

Sprinkles of Jesus’ are Reconciliations – Second article

Sprinkles of Jesus’ are Reconciliations – Second article

Our ways of reaching Reconciliation and Salvation are combined. In Christianity, both are essential and can be reached in several ways. This article is the second one to demonstrate the ways of achieving these goals.

According to Mathew 5:23-24,

“So if you are offering your gift at the altar and there remember that your brother has something against you, leave your gift there before the altar and go. First, be reconciled to your brother, and then come and offer your gift”.

Reconciliation is an extremely important aspect of the life of any Christian. It is like Jesus’ sprinkles of heavenly wisdom.

For any Christian seeking reconciliation, the following are some of the most important points to consider:

Be willing to admit ways you might have contributed to the problem

Even if you did not start the dispute, your lack of understanding, careless words, impatience, or failure to respond in a loving manner may have aggravated the situation. The best way to overcome this tendency is to prayerfully examine your role in the conflict and then write down everything you have done or failed to do that may have been a factor.

Be objective about your hesitancy

Perhaps you have good reasons for being hesitant to reconcile, but they must be objectively stated.

Be clear about the guidelines for restoration

Establish clear guidelines for healing.

Be alert to Satan’s schemes

In Ephesians 4:27, Paul warns about the possibility of giving Satan an opportunity in our lives. Significantly, this warning is given in the context of unchecked anger.

“and give no opportunity to the devil”.

Be mindful of God’s control

As the apostle, Paul wrote,

“No temptation has overtaken you but such as is common to man; and God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will provide the way of escape also, that you may be able to endure it.” (1 Cor 10:13)

Be realistic about the process

Change often requires time and hard work. Periodic failure by an offender does not always indicate an unrepentant heart. Behavior patterns often run in deep channels. They can place a powerful grip on a person’s life. A key indicator of change is the attitude of the offender.

Jesus gives us on his Ceremony on the Mountain these keys. We have the option to use them and open the doors for Salvation.

A recipe for a new journey in life

A Recipe for a new journey in life

A Recipe for a new journey in life

Where can you get started in the Christian life? How can you grow and get to know God better? These are some of the very first questions you need to ask when you begin your relationship with God.

Listen to God

The Bible is the very word and will of God, preserved for us so we can get to know who He is and what He wants for our lives. 2 Timothy 3:16 says that

“All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.”

This is why you need to spend time reading the word of God every single day. If you don’t have a Bible that’s easy to understand, you will find online versions that will befit your language.

Answer these two questions for each chapter:

  1. What do I learn about God or Jesus?
  2. Are there things discussed that I should begin practicing or avoid altogether?

This will help you to see that the Bible is very practical to your life today. After you finish John, just keep going all the way to Revelation.

When we read the Bible we learn how God loves us.

“How great is the love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are!”
(1 John 3:1).

We learn that we are entirely new people because we’ve invited Jesus to be our Savior and Lord. Read Ephesians 1:3-14 and spend a moment listing all the things that are true of you as a Christian.

Talk to God

Prayer is such a vital aspect of a healthy walk with God. Think of it, we can talk with GOD! Anytime, anywhere, any season of temptation or joy. Hebrews 13:5 tells us that God will never leave or forsake us. That’s good news for some of us who have never known that kind of love and commitment. Well, we do now…because God does not lie or change his mind (Numbers 23:19; Titus 1:2; Hebrews 6:18)

Talk to Others Who Know God

This is simply called fellowship, hanging out with other people who love Jesus. It can be at church, in a Bible study or in a small group. It is for purposes of growing together (Acts 2:46-47)

Talk to Others About God

This is called witnessing. As we can learn from the book – 2 Corinthians 5:17-20,

“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation;the old has gone, the new has come!
All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation:
that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting men’s sins against them. And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation.

We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ’s behalf: Be reconciled to God.”

Jerusalem: the Holy City

According to Zechariah, the Lord promised to protect Jerusalem, to make it an ‘immovable rock for all the nations’ and to ‘shield those who live in Jerusalem, so that the feeblest among them will be like David’.
This, coupled with Luke 24:47:’and repentance for the forgiveness of sins will be preached in his name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem’ has led Christians to believe that salvation of the Earth will begin in the Holy City.

Is it still a significant place?

Yes, Because of this belief, and because Christ died and was resurrected in the city, Jerusalem has become one of the most significant places on Earth for Christians.

Each year, millions of Christians make the pilgrimage to the empty prayer of Jesus at the Church of the Holy Sepulcher in the city to pray. They are seeking solace and redemption in the process.

Many also wish to be buried there, as they believe that the Last Judgment will take place in Jerusalem.

The Stone of the Anointing

The Stone of the Anointing

The Stone of the Anointing

The Stone of the Anointing is also often called the Stone of Unction. It can be found just inside the Church of the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem. The Church of the Holy Sepulchre contains the two most holy Christian sites in Jerusalem, Calvary where Jesus was crucified and the Stone of the Anointing where his body was prepared for burial by anointing and being wrapped in cloth.

Importance to Christians

The Stone of the Anointing is of enormous importance to Christians across the world as it was here that Mary Magdalene was the first person to see the newly risen Jesus. She didn’t realize it was him and thought she was speaking to a stranger when she said:

“They have taken my Lord away, and I don’t know where to find him.”

For Christians, this is the most important event in the history of mankind, as it is when death was conquered by Jesus and from that moment on his believers felt they too could defeat death and experience eternal life. The importance of this event is reflected in the importance of the Stone of the Anointing.

History

Most historians are in agreement that the Stone of the Anointing is the place where Jesus’ body was prepared for burial. Because of this, the stone itself and the Church of the Holy Sepulchre are very popular destinations for pilgrims and they have been the scenes of some difficult times throughout history.

The Roman Emperor Hadrian didn’t want a site of such significance to be available to Christians, so he built a temple to the goddess Venus over the holy site in the 2nd Century AD. Around 325 AD the Roman empire had its first Christian Emperor, Constantine the Great, who oversaw the replacement of the temple by a church.

In 630 AD this church was damaged by a Persian attack and a difficult history of earthquakes, fires and repairs followed.

The Church of the Holy Sepulchre was totally reconstructed in 1810 and it was at this time that the current Stone of the Anointing was placed where Jesus’ body was prepared for burial.

What people do there today

The Stone of the Anointing remains a very holy pilgrimage site for Christians today. Pilgrims queue to either kiss the stone or rub it with oil or rosewater and then wipe it with a cloth. Priests burn incense around the stone and sometimes people place their own crosses on it in order to transfer the unction or anointing.

Rosewater

Rosewater is used to anoint the Stone of the Anointing because it is a perfume that has traditional use in a number of religions. For example, during Muslim burials rosewater is sprinkled into a grave before burial. Rosewater has in the past been used for the embalming of bodies as it has properties that are good for the skin.

Visitors to the Stone of the Anointing

Over hundreds of years, there have been stories of miracles and cures experienced by people who have visited and anointed the Stone of the Anointing. The atmosphere in the Church of the Sepulchre is one of reverence and worship. This is clearly one of the holiest places and somewhere that each and every one of us should consider visiting during our lifetimes.

Mother Mary and her miracle birth of Jesus

Mother Mary Miracle Birth Of Jesus

Jesus’s virginal conception is a miracle pertaining to Mother Mary, and is the foundation of the belief that the birth was the Holy Spirit’s miraculous work.

The Miracle in the infancy narratives

In the New Testament, there are two scriptures relating to this supernatural event, confirming Mother Mary as a single, natural parent. They are also known as the infancy narratives.

Through the prophet, the Lord said:

“The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel” Matthew 1:18-25

The event took place before Mother Mary was agreed to marry Joseph, and after that Angel Gabriel had made known the Virgin Birth, the New Testament records Luke’s reaction as follows:

“How will this be,” Mary asked the angel, “since I am a virgin?” The angel answered, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the holy one to be born will be called the Son of God.” (Luke 1:34-35)

The angel also sought to reassure Joseph that he should still take Mary’s hand in marriage, despite him not playing a part in the birth:

“Joseph, son of David, do not fear to take Mary as your wife, for that which is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit. She will bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins.” (Luke 1:26-38)

The miracle birth is a belief which runs through Christianity, from the Orthodox to Catholic and Protestant churches.

The history and origin of the Rosary

The history and origin of the Rosary

The history and origin of the Rosary

The rosary is one of the most fundamental and cherished prayer tools in Christianity. Mostly identified with the Catholic Church, but also in use by the Orthodox and Protestants.
“Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners”, was an addition to the “Hail Mary” prayer. Who said it?

Basic Structure and purpose

Praying the Rosary is introduced by four prayers:

  1. The Creed
  2. Our Father
  3. Three Hail Marys
  4. The Doxology (“Glory Be”)

The prayer is concluded with the Salve Regina.
Since Praying, in general, involves recitation of prayers the prayer can use as an assistance. The beads allow the person to focus on the words instead of the counting. In the Catholic rosary, there are five decades consisting of the Our Father, 10 Hail Marys, and the Doxology. During this recitation, the person is able to meditate. The meditation is about the saving mysteries of our Lord’s life and the faithful witness of our Blessed Mother.

Origin and Tradition

The usage of “prayer beads” and the repeated recitation of prayers aid in meditation and has a long history. The use of beads stems from the earliest days of the Church and has roots in pre-Christian times.
According to tradition, the origin of the modern rosary started at the beginning of the 13th Century. The Blessed Mother Mary appeared to Saint Dominic in the church of Prouille, and said to him:

“Wonder not that until now you have had such little fruit from your labours. You have spent them on a barren soil, not yet watered with the dew of divine grace. When God willed to renew the face of the earth he began by sending down the fertilizing dew of the Angelic Salutation. Preach my Rosary composed of one hundred and fifty Aves, and you will obtain an abundant harvest.”

Later in the 15th century, a Dominican priest had a plan to reestablish the use of the Rosary. The priest was Blessed Alanus de Rupe, a theologian, and a learned preacher. His addition to the Rosary was the “15 Promises” of Mother Mary to any Christian who uses the Rosary as a prayer instrument.

The 16th Century

In the second half of the sixteenth century, the Rosary was approved by the Catholic Church. The Dominican Pope Pius V issued the papal bull Consueverunt Romani Pontifices, which established the devotion to the Rosary.

The Rosary is an instrument with a reassuring effect. We can see that on troubled days, the Marian devotion of the Rosary helps with regaining your strength. Saint Peter Canisius, a Doctor of the Church, who is credited with adding the sentence “Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners” to the Hail Mary, was an ardent advocate of the rosary and promoted it (and its Marian devotion in general) because he believed that the Rosary was the best way to re-establish the status of the Church.

The Saints of Caesarea

The Saints of Caesarea

The Saints of Caesarea

Saint Agapius, Saint Asterius, and Saint Cornelius are known as the Saints of Caesarea. They lived in Caesarea, the Holy Land, and spread Jesus’ teachings and faith in God. They had to face the Romans and kept their true faith at all costs.

Most of our current knowledge regarding the early life of Christians in the Holy Land comes from Eusebius and his book The Martyrs of Palestine.

Saint Agapius

During the persecutions of Diocletian, Saint Agapius was arrested three times but released each time.  However, he was imprisoned after the fourth arrest. He was offered freedom if he renounced Christianity but he refused. As a result, he had to face a bear and other animals in the public arena. His bravery and strong faith stood by his side in the arena so he suffered injuries but not death. After long suffering and mauling by animals, stones were affixed to his legs and the man was thrown into the Mediterranean and drowned.

Saint Agapius’ feast days are observed on November 20 and August 19.

From Paganism to Christian Martyrdom

Saint Asterius of Caesarea was a Roman senator, a well-known man who became a Christian martyr. He lived during the reign of the emperors Valerian and Gallienus, who were both pagans. Even though he lived during the pagan regime with persecutions escalated against Christians, Saint Asterius maintained his faith. He is known to have expelled a demon with a prayer during a pagan feast. However, the main reason he was sentenced and beheaded was a Christian burial ceremony that he performed.

Saint Asterius’ feast days are observed on March 3 and August 7.

Saint Cornelius

Our Second saint was a Roman Priest, Saint Cornelius his name. He was elected as the Pope. And then succeeded Fabian after the papacy had been vacant for over a year in a reign when Christians were heavily persecuted. He condemned the suffering of Christians as a result of their faith. And later was exiled, suffered a lot of hardships and later was decapitated.

Some of his writings were fundamental to the unity of the Catholic Church. He asserted that the unity of the church was grounded in the authority of the Bishop.

Saint Cornelius’ feast day is observed on September 16.

They say the power of Confession is positive. Is it?

The Power of Confession

The Power of Confession

We know confession is one of the sacraments, but can we see in it a relationship as well? 2000 years tradition in modern time

The Sacrament

Confession of sins, otherwise known as the Sacrament of Penance and Reconciliation. Hence it is a crucial part of following God in our everyday lives. Moreover, confession has been so for thousands of years. Historically, the forms of confession have varied over the centuries, ranging from public confessions and self-organized repentance to the more canonical tariff penance.

Eventually, the private confession is the customary way, ever since it became widespread in the 16th century. However, the necessity and meaning of it have stayed the same. Confession is a way to maintain our relationship with Jesus.

Constant Development of the Soul

By honoring Jesus’s sacrifice for our sins, so that it would not be in vain. Just like in any relationship, where admitting and regretting our wrongdoings often lets us mend it and move forward.

Confession to Christ cleanses us of our sins, lets us try to make up for them and relieves us from burden and guilt. Hence we can move our lives in a new direction, towards salvation.

Confession is both what improves us and lets us feel the immensity of God’s love. God will not abandon us, even when we fail, neither the faithful community that supports us.

Modern Time

Even in the age of modern technology, which is known to desensitize or isolate us, skewing our perception of sin, the presence of Jesus is there. Even if we can’t connect with our local priest, we can do it through a confession online with a priest located in the Holy Land, and he will remind us of the importance of Confession and calls us to examine the state of our spirits.
