5 Prayers during 3 Days Fast of Esther
The Fast of Esther commemorates the events mentioned in “The Book of Esther.” Some people insist that they keep a fast because Queen Esther fasted for 3 days and three nights to save a Jewish community. According to another popular belief, Mordecai declared fast for three days after revealing Haman’s evil plans to Esther.
The queen proposed that the Jewish community of Shushan should fast before she approached the king and pleaded for their survival. Esther fasted and prayed for three days as well. Many believe that Haman was unhappy when he heard that Mordechai was a Jew and when the latter refused to bend before him. Haman wanted to slaughter every member of the Jewish community.
However, Esther decided to intervene and spoil his plans. The queen asked Haman to attend a banquet where he came and begged her for mercy. Queen Esther had told the King that Haman wanted to kill her. The king was furious when he saw Haman on the couch and ordered his hanging instead. The Fast of Esther falls on March 16 in 2022.
Check out these 5 prayers you can use during the 3 day fast of Esther. Esther fasted 3 days to save her community, and you can pray to heal your loved ones from all kinds of pains and miseries.
1. Liberty through Fasting
Dear Lord of Lords,
I have now realized that I require more of you than anything else in the world. Even hunger does not matter to me anymore when you are by my side. O’ God! Please have mercy on me and teach me to bend to your gentle will. I empty my life so that it is filled with you. Give me complete freedom through this fasting of mine! Amen.
2. A Simple Prayer for Fasting
Please pardon us for longing for food more than you. King of Kings, please redirect our hunger and enlighten us to the merits of fasting. Let our hearts be open to you and give us the strength to come to your shelter with our souls. We pray that we do not depend upon just bread for our survival but by words that you speak. Oh God, give us the power to fast to ensure that we hold fast to you. Amen.
3. Fasting to Get Guidance from the Holy Spirit
I pray to you to remove all unwanted distractions from my life. Please bring clarity to the purpose of my life. Remove all confusions that cloud my thoughts and become obstacles to my actions. Let the Holy Spirit converse with me and be my guiding light as I move on. Your glory God in the name of Jesus! Amen.
4. Confession in Fasting
I thank you for making me religious and blessed. It would not have been possible without your divine support and blessings. You forgave me for all my sins and offered me your Holy Spirit to counsel and guide me. I am learning to lead a holy life with your help.
Thank you once again for pulling me up from the mud. It is you who gave me a spacious place to live well. Support me always so that I do not fall into the mess again. I plead you for this through Jesus. Amen.
5. Asking for a Miracle through a Fasting Prayer
As I fast, let there be a miracle through your divine power and blessings on me. You are the one who can take care of all my troubles and miseries and make me happy once again. Heal me and my loved ones completely and banish worries and anxiety from our lives.
Dear Father, please fight for me as always. Give me your vision of what a healthy and fully healed me would look like. Acknowledge my sincere efforts and then multiply them. My soul knows that there are some things that only you can do. I love you, God. Amen.
